WHAT IF YOU...by Stephanie
On Thanksgiving I shared this on Facebook. I feel it's something to be reminded of daily... My wish is that YOU take a moment to be grateful for yourself--for who you are-- and the small steps you take everyday to get up and move forward, no matter what circumstances you face. Think kindly upon yourself. Everyday upon rising fill your mind with thoughts of gratitude, grace, compassion, self-love. Our thoughts do become our life. This said, I am reminded of a passage from page 43 of my book, Reclaiming Joy: "At our core we are light, not dark. While we may have shadow aspects of ourselves that we consider to be dark, this is NOT who we are. As we stay committed to reclaiming joy...to allowing ourselves to be who we are, we realize the light is always there. The light patiently waits for us to stop, look, and listen- to stop driving and start thriving. The light is what pulls us forward. The light is what illuminates the dark. And, yes, we do need both. We would not "know" one without the other. My friends, it is in the space of acceptance where we transform our perspective and therefore our thoughts of darkness into light." ![]() This Holiday Season, give the gift of Sanctuary with a Bronxville Wellness Sanctuary gift certificate! Wednesday, November 30th, 6:30pm-8:00pm @ BWS with Kamesh Peter Iocovello By donation (proceeds to benefit Mt. Vernon Animal Shelter) The practice of presence is about making a new start by coming alive to this present moment. Why presence? By being present to our own nature, we receive in a new way everything that comes toward us. In this way we are able to manage stress and thereby stay open to possibilities. The end result is that we feel more peaceful and more alive. In this workshop led by Kamesh Peter Iocovello, we will discuss what it means to be present, the benefits of being present, and what gets in the way. You will leave with tools such as meditation to help you continue the practice of presence. RSVP required to Kamesh here. ![]() Stillness...by Stephanie Lately we've been speaking on meditation. Last week I shared there is no wrong way to do meditation, unless of course you are not doing it!! I feel it is important to share this because I have seen countless people either not ever get started-- or quit-- because there is an idea of not doing it "right". That is simply not true. As many of you have heard me say, if I had to choose one practice that has the most profound positive effect on well-being, it is meditation. This is why I want to remind you, inspire you, and invite you to explore meditation if you have not. For those with a practice, deepen it. Why now? As we enter the last 2 months of 2016, perhaps some of us will feel things speeding up, a sense of greater movement. Often when this happens we begin to feel more stress and less stillness, or inner peace. The season of joy and wonder becomes the opposite. Let's change this. Consider this: in movement there is stillness and in stillness, there is movement. In fact, the more I meditate, the more still I become, and the more things move on their own to support exactly what I need/want/desire..without me having to put forth much effort. JOY! |
