Last week I share with you a video about viewing stress as growth.
This week I want to share with you a fantastic lecture delivered to the plebe class at the United States Military Academy at West Point in October 2009 about how solitude is essential for leadership, and quite frankly for success in life.
Why am I taking the time to share this? In my experience, the ability to be quiet and listen to our own voice is the most powerful way to transform our life = success.

Stress is Growth by Stephanie
Last week I spoke about daring to dream. I shared that we get to choose if we want to take control back of our life by learning from our fears. For many of us, stress, fear..being uncomfortable is to be avoided at all costs!! Yet, the wise one knows that it is exactly stress...fear...discomfort that helps us grow. Without growth we stay stuck. Watch this video and you decide.
Other ways to manage stress include: my personal favorite meditation, yoga, energy healing and yes, go PLAY and have FUN!!
One of the reasons I love my cats is because they remind me to stay curious and PLAY.
Dare to Dream by Stephanie
Last week Kamesh spoke about what it means to have abundant health, practice radical self care and enjoy the awesome adventure of life! Did you do the practice? What did you notice?
This week I invite you to continue the process by daring to dream.
Why? In my experience of life, there are occasions when it would seem so logical to stay where we are, when we are unhappy. The truth is, we are meant for so much more.
When we begin to understand that it is fear of: loss, the unknown, what others may think or say, etc that keeps us stuck, we are at a critical choice point. We either choose to take responsibility for the direction our life, or not. If we don't take responsibility, fear will control our life and keep us unhappy. If however, we choose to take responsibility for our life, we admit we have had enough. We commit to take control back by learning from our fears. Learning fuels us and we begin to allow ourselves to dream.
At this stage of my life, there is simply no other way for me to live. As many of you know, I have dedicated my life to helping others THRIVE. That's my medicine, my life purpose, why I am here!! This wisdom is what keeps me on the path, even when I want so badly to be asleep and not feel. I bet some of you are nodding yes? Great, let us stick together please!
It's funny really. Over the years people have watched me Reclaim Joy. Some have said, "You are lucky/special/old soul/wise". While it is well meaning, thank you, it agitates me. Guess what? I am not! I am dedicated to living my truth. That truth includes the reality that we teach what we most need to learn. I am not lucky. I am teaching and learning, like you.
Here's what I will say. When you dare to dream, you open yourself to new possibility. With support, you stay the on the path. When you get to the end of your life, you will look back, and have no regrets. To me, this is the gift of being alive. And everyday is a new day to begin again. No matter what your age or stage.
Here at the Sanctuary Our Mission is to provide the space for all beings to thrive. Our services, events, staff, and yes, those yummy snacks are all here to support you to be your best.
We are all unique and require different support- pampering with a Massage or Facial; balancing energy with Reiki or Acupuncture; easing the mind with Meditation; connecting with others in a Full Moon Ceremony on Jan 12th. And sometimes, we are at a major crossroads in life and need deeper, more consistent support with private mentoring. Whatever it is, we support you!

As the year winds down I have been reflecting on what it means to have abundant health. In so doing I believe having abundant health is all about self care. Radical self care, actually.
What do I mean? Well, when you make the time to understand your natural bodily rhythms and then take action in that direction, you are practicing radical self care. You begin to understand how your body wants to move, what it wants for food to feel deeply nourished from within, and overall what YOU need to feel ALIVE!!
Why is practicing self care so radical? Let's face it- we are so busy!! As a result, we put ourselves last on the priority list often neglecting even the most basic of needs. When you practice radical self care, you commit to re-arranging that priority list with your needs at the top. You learn how to be compassionate with yourself. You begin to make decisions that light you up and inspire you to move towards your greatest potential!
Stagnation, dullness, and insecurity arise while being too comfortable for too long. Abundant health is created when you are rooted in self care and have the energy to step outside your comfort zone, into the spaces that cause curiosity, presence, and joy. Life truly becomes an awesome adventure!!
Here's a simple practice to help you get started...
Take a deep inhale. Notice the space at the top of your breath.
As you exhale, ask yourself the following question...
Where have I been too comfortable for too long?
Notice what comes up. Decide what you want to do about it.
