Why? Other than the obvious physical healing benefits of massage, there are mental/emotional ones too: connection, self-care, someone who understands and listens...priceless, really. Maybe after our massage we feel relaxed, renewed, and re-filled and we are kinder to ourselves and each other. A recent comment from a client inspired this writing. Here's what Saba had to say...thank you Saba, thank you Jaxx: "I was in a lot of pain (hip) when I visited BWS. Jaxx had a thoughtful conversation with me prior to starting the massage and talked me through the massage. It helped to understand what she was doing and why. She was very professional yet compassionate. I found the whole process very therapeutic." -Saba >>>Book a Massage >>>Buy an Instant Gift Certificate Cupping Therapeutic Bodywork
What is Cupping? Cupping is a comprehensive care technique aiming to decompress over-contracted muscles and other tissues. It is performed with medical-grade silicone cups. Cupping increases blood flow, absorption of water and nutrients, loosens adhesions which increase range of motion and stimulates the elimination of toxins and cellular debris, which often contribute to pain, tightness and fatigue. Simultaneously, the subtle yet crucial function of the lymphatic system is stimulated. This service is provided exclusively by Peter, BWS Co-Founder. Who Is Cupping Good For? Cupping is a form of therapeutic bodywork ideal for people that suffer from sports injuries and chronic pain. If you are someone that needs deep tissue massage, it is likely that cupping will benefit you. Who Should Not* Receive Cupping? While cupping is not dangerous, it is important to notify your therapist if you have high blood pressure as this will determine the intensity of the cupping session. *Please do not book cupping if you have the following conditions: an open wound, fever, or lymphedema. What to Expect Post Cupping: It is common for cupping to leave circular or linear marks on the skin that can range from light pink to deep red. The marks are simply an indication of increased blood flow which still occurs even when there is no color change. Cupping After Care: After cupping, we recommend dry-brushing the area treated and adjacent skin, preferably following the lymphatic flow. It is best to avoid drastic temperature changes for a few hours – this includes hot showers. Wait one day before resuming your normal exercise routine and avoid any other body work for at least 2 days post cupping. Sessions: 45 Minute Cupping, $120; 60 Minute Cupping, $155 >>>Book Here or Call Us: 914.337.9356 Therapeutic Massage at Bronxville Wellness Sanctuary
