Finding Our Way, by Stephanie
In the next few weeks, many of us will experience "transitions" as we head back to school, back to work, back to life…back to "reality".
In addition to this time of transition and change, many of us are feeling the heightened energy around us. It's real. For some, it's really hard to ignore and/or overcome.
During these times of transition and heightened energy sometimes we lose our way. We may be riding the roller coaster of feelings: depressed, overwhelmed, tired, confused, afraid...anything but relaxed!
How do we Find Our Way?
By returning to emotional balance...equanimity.
As I talk about in Chapter Two of my book Reclaiming JOY, the emotional roller coaster is not sustainable and keeps us stuck. We react and often cause more turmoil.
This simple practice, called BRFWA, brings us back to a relaxed state where our emotions are in balance.
From this place of emotional balance or equanimity, we are able to ride the emotional wave without drowning in it. In equanimity we find our way back to peace and clarity. Once clear, we are able to take action that keeps us on the path of peace.
Breathe: As a wave of emotion comes over you, slow down your breath. Allow your breath to flow freely in and out.
Relax: As you slow down your breath, your mind and body will begin to relax. Soften your muscles, let go of mental and physical tension.
Feel: As you relax, you are able to soften into what you are feeling. Stay open to the sensations and emotions moving through you in this moment.
Watch: While feeling, you watch your experience closely, neither grasping what is pleasant nor pushing away what is painful.
Allow: As you watch, you allow the process to unfold. You accept yourself and your experience exactly as it is, dropping the need to change it in any way.
BRWFA is the practice of being present. Being present is what we learn during meditation.
Looking for more support? Consider cultivating an on-going meditation practice.
When things heat up this summer, in addition to drinking plenty of fluids, preferably water, there are other ways to keep your energy levels balanced.
First, what do we mean by balanced energy?
No question we are living in tumultuous times. There is much change, and as such many of us are feeling the effects. If you are an em-path, you are feeling the effects even more.
Whether we feel the effects physically, mentally and/or emotionally, it all comes down to energy. As a result, some of us feel drained, tired...lazy, not motivated and we need to gain energy.
Others of us feel wired and perhaps even scattered and unable to focus. As such our energy needs to be pulled back or "in" and re-directed.
How do we bring energy back into balance?
With an Energy Healing Session. During a session, the intention is to restore energy back to balance.
At BWS we offer Shamanic Energy Healing Sessions with Stephanie and Reiki Healing Session with Maggie.
While both are forms of energy healing, there are differences. The truth is, to feel the difference, you have to experience a session. Afterward, you will know what resonates with you.
In the meantime, Stephanie explains Shamanic Energy Healing as a way to deeply uncover, uproot and reset the entire body in order to live the life we were meant to live - a JOYFUL one. As she shares in Chapter Two of her book Reclaiming JOY,shamanic energy healing helped Stephanie release her fear of living the life she desired.
Maggie describes Reiki Energy Healing as raising your vibration level, helping you move out of whatever feels "stuck" into a place of expansiveness, freedom and choice. Summer is a time for play, and Reiki can help you connect to your inner child.

Dare to Dream by Stephanie
Last week Kamesh spoke about what it means to have abundant health, practice radical self care and enjoy the awesome adventure of life! Did you do the practice? What did you notice?
This week I invite you to continue the process by daring to dream.
Why? In my experience of life, there are occasions when it would seem so logical to stay where we are, when we are unhappy. The truth is, we are meant for so much more.
When we begin to understand that it is fear of: loss, the unknown, what others may think or say, etc that keeps us stuck, we are at a critical choice point. We either choose to take responsibility for the direction our life, or not. If we don't take responsibility, fear will control our life and keep us unhappy. If however, we choose to take responsibility for our life, we admit we have had enough. We commit to take control back by learning from our fears. Learning fuels us and we begin to allow ourselves to dream.
At this stage of my life, there is simply no other way for me to live. As many of you know, I have dedicated my life to helping others THRIVE. That's my medicine, my life purpose, why I am here!! This wisdom is what keeps me on the path, even when I want so badly to be asleep and not feel. I bet some of you are nodding yes? Great, let us stick together please!
It's funny really. Over the years people have watched me Reclaim Joy. Some have said, "You are lucky/special/old soul/wise". While it is well meaning, thank you, it agitates me. Guess what? I am not! I am dedicated to living my truth. That truth includes the reality that we teach what we most need to learn. I am not lucky. I am teaching and learning, like you.
Here's what I will say. When you dare to dream, you open yourself to new possibility. With support, you stay the on the path. When you get to the end of your life, you will look back, and have no regrets. To me, this is the gift of being alive. And everyday is a new day to begin again. No matter what your age or stage.
Here at the Sanctuary Our Mission is to provide the space for all beings to thrive. Our services, events, staff, and yes, those yummy snacks are all here to support you to be your best.
We are all unique and require different support- pampering with a Massage or Facial; balancing energy with Reiki or Acupuncture; easing the mind with Meditation; connecting with others in a Full Moon Ceremony on Jan 12th. And sometimes, we are at a major crossroads in life and need deeper, more consistent support with private mentoring. Whatever it is, we support you!
I want to close by sharing with you what a recent client had to say,
"I am new to the area and was looking for services that were high quality, while also not overpriced. I can honestly say that I booked my appointment online and wasn't sure what to expect, but that I was SO happy once I arrived to the very zen space BWS created. I saw Elizabeth for my facial, and she did such a thorough job-- it's been five days and my skin looks amazing. Kate did my massage and even a week later I can feel the benefits. I will definitely be back!! -Christine Q. on 1/2/2017
This is what inspires us to keep going!!! Thank you from the depths of our hearts.
Stop by for the Sister Act book signing at Bronxville Wellness Sanctuary, Saturday Decemeber 10, 2016 during the 5 Year Anniversary & Client Appreciation Party and get pampered too!
Who is the Sister Act you ask?
Sam Desmond, Editor-in-Chief at HICONCEPT MAGAZINE shares more:
"Both published authors, sisters Christine (Stewart, Tabori, & Chang) andStephanie (Thriving You, Thriving Life) have had divergent, but culminating paths. Extraordinary women, both Filardi sisters were deeply impacted by the unexpected death of their father in 2004. Rising from tragedy, Christine and Stephanie both started on their respective journeys towards self-acceptance and self-sacrifice for the well-being of others.
Excerpts from their books are accompanied by artwork that expands upon the Filardi sisters’ messages of optimism through diligence...continue reading
WHAT IF YOU...by Stephanie
On Thanksgiving I shared this on Facebook. I feel it's something to be reminded of daily...
My wish is that YOU take a moment to be grateful for yourself--for who you are-- and the small steps you take everyday to get up and move forward, no matter what circumstances you face.
Think kindly upon yourself. Everyday upon rising fill your mind with thoughts of gratitude, grace, compassion, self-love. Our thoughts do become our life.
This said, I am reminded of a passage from page 43 of my book, Reclaiming Joy:
"At our core we are light, not dark. While we may have shadow aspects of ourselves that we consider to be dark, this is NOT who we are. As we stay committed to reclaiming joy...to allowing ourselves to be who we are, we realize the light is always there. The light patiently waits for us to stop, look, and listen- to stop driving and start thriving. The light is what pulls us forward. The light is what illuminates the dark. And, yes, we do need both. We would not "know" one without the other. My friends, it is in the space of acceptance where we transform our perspective and therefore our thoughts of darkness into light."
Gratitude Practice, by Stephanie
Gratitude isn't something to celebrate only on Thanksgiving.
For many of us, it's how we live, or strive to live.
Being grateful is being joyful! Easy, no?
So, I decided to come up with a simple game to help keep me on the path of gratitude.
As I speak about in my book, Reclaiming JOY, how we are being (grateful or not, loving or not...)
determines the quality of our doing...and this is how we experience life. It's a big deal!!!
Here's the game:
1. Grab paper and pen (or your cell phone).
2. Set a timer for 5 minutes.
3. Write down as many kind words as possible about yourself that begin with theletter of your first name. (I.e. Stephanie: Still, Silly, Self-Loving). The key is to write words you "know" you are...and even more importantly, write words you wish to become.
4. For the rest of the year, look at this every morning and night. Add to it!
Extra Credit: Share and play this game with a spouse, partner, child, friend, co-worker...etc.
Reclaiming JOY Speaks
Many of you have been kindly sharing with us your learning from Steph's book, Reclaiming JOY: Your 4 Step Guide to Happy, Healthy & Free:. We thank you!! Please keep it coming -- and if you have something to share, please write a review on Amazon.
Here's what one reader had to say -- thank you Dana...pictured left, ENJOYING life!!
"The foundations of joy really resonated with me. In a time of personal change and growth it's interesting how these foundations evolve. Being aware of the change around you and always resorting back to my definition of joy, helps me ease into the change and not be scared of it. As I looked at each foundation intensely, my health, my relationships, my career and my life purpose it made me realize how much I've changed over the years in a good way, which then led me to be open to who I may become." -Dana M.
